Recruitment Panel Training for Clients/Involvees - Delivered by AWP
This course provides clients and volunteers with the knowledge, understanding and confidence to take an active role on interview panels.
The session is both practical and interactive using a range of exercises and activities. The course is co-delivered by two trainers (staff member and service user) in a relaxed atmosphere, to promote engagement and have fun.
Trainers will give insight into the benefits of having clients on an interview panel and the value which they bring to the recruitment process.
Connect 5 (Session 1) Mental Health & Wellbeing Conversations - provided by BaNES council
Connect 5 takes the position that we don’t need to be mental health specialists to support those who are experiencing emotional and mental health problems. Attendees have the option to sign up to session 2.
Connect 5 promotes a whole-person approach to mental health and wellbeing. Devised by Public Health England it forms a key part of the national mental health.
The ultimate aim of applying the knowledge and tools contained within Connect 5 is to break cycles of spiralling negativity early and start cycles of positive thought, feeling and experience instead.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
The ASIST programme is the world’s most widely used suicide prevention training. Described as a form of ‘suicide first aid’, ASIST is an interactive and practical two day course that aims to help people to recognise the signs that someone is considering suicide and gain the skills and confidence to respond appropriately and intervene to prevent immediate risk of suicide. Connect 5 (Session 2) Mental Health & Wellbeing conversations - BaNES Council
To attend session 2 participants must have completed session 1 course
The Connect 5 Programme is an accessible, evidenced based training that is relevant to the whole of the public facing workforce including volunteers. It provides participants with skills and competencies that build confidence in having conversations about mental health and wellbeing. It presents tools to empower others to take proactive steps to build resilience and look after themselves.
New Format Connect 5 – is now delivered over 2 rather than 3 sessions.

MECC - Make Every Contact Count (Healthy Conversation Skills) - 2 Days - Delivered by St Mungo's & Virgin Care
An opportunity to develop or hone your conversational skills to help people reflect on a problem, make positive decisions and take smart steps towards achieving their goal.
This course is made up of two sessions
On completion of the two sessions you will receive a certificate from Public Health England.
PIE’s for Carers (Supporters) - Creating a supportive space for you and the person you support - KS2, St Mungo's & Carers Centre, AWP
Creating a supportive space for people with a mental health need & their supporters.
Four sessions run over two Mondays for family & friends who support someone with a mental health need.
The Four sessions; 1. Understanding Mental Health Challenges 2. Relationships – Support people to make changes 3. Relationships – Conflict & Crisis 4. Learning, reflecting & support – Creating more boundaried relationships
Connect 5 - Train the Trainer - For staff & volunteers - St Mungo's & BANES Council
Connect 5 train the trainer programme is the first nationally accredited programme to create a network of trainers in mental wellbeing brief advice and extended brief interventions. It will train the staff as Connect 5 trainers who will be fully equipped to cascade the programme across the South West. The intention is to build capacity across a range of frontline workforces to have the skills and confidence to have effective conversations and help individuals to improve their mental health, wellbeing and resilience through positive changes.
The training courses listed are managed through the BANES Wellbeing College. When you register interest in any of these courses, be aware that your personal details will be passed to the staff at the BANES Wellbeing College. If you are not comfortable with that, please do not register for any of these courses.
You must be aged 16 or over to participate in any of the courses listed.
